This is Book two in the Acts Of Honor series, the spin-off series to Men Of Honor. It’s Nick and Katelyn’s story and is told in dual POV, has an HEA with no cliffhanger and it can be read as a standalone. However, I highly recommend that you read the Men Of Honor series prior, as characters play recurring roles in both series.
My Review
This is the second book in the Acts of Honor series and my favourite to date.
This time the story focuses on Katelyn and Nick. We have met Katelyn in previous books and I was pleased we were getting her story. Katelyn, Kolan (Her brother) and Nick were all best friends growing up, then one night everything changed and Nick left both Katelyn and Kolan behind to complete his FBI training. However when Kolan gets into trouble and her own safety is in danger Katelyn turns to the one person she has always trusted- Nick. Nick return to help Katelyn.
Both Nick and Katelyn have had a rough childhood and are broken souls but together they begin to heal each other. Katelyn has a sassy mouth and Nick is certainly a broody dirty talker. Even after years apart there is still strong chemistry between Nick and Katelyn.
I was hooked through the story throughout and there was plenty of twits and turns. For me I did feel that some of Nick issues from his childhood were dealt with a little quickly but overall I was really happy with how this book ended. However there was one part where it was Nick's POV from when he was six that broke my heart and brought tears to my eyes. I now can't wait to read Kolan's story. It was also great to see all the other characters from the previous books make an appearance.
Overall a great sexy, hot read and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

He begins moving inside of me with slow, exquisite strokes, his eyes never leaving mine. He looks at me in a way I’ve longed to have someone look at me my whole life. Like I matter, like I’m important…like I am more. When it’s time for him to go back this is what I’ll remember. This is what I’ll keep close to me on the nights I ache for him, to remember that someone looked at me like this once. Even if I don’t get it for a lifetime, it’s better than not getting it at all.
Just like the man himself.
Reaching up, I cup his strong, stubbly jaw. He encircles my wrist and kisses the inside of it, right over my tattoo.
