Release Blitz- Resentment by Nicole London

Re•sent•ment (noun)

The act of hating – no, fucking loathing Dean Collins. (Yes, I’m well aware that’s not the actual definition, but it might as well be...)

It’s been ten years since we've seen each other and the feelings are still as strong.

I’m not going to bore you with all the details of how our love was once intoxicating, consuming, and perfect.

Because it was . . . until it wasn't.

I've been fine without him. I haven’t missed his cruelty, his coldness and his spite.

And after the ugliest breakup in the history of breakups, I forced myself to move on.

Year by year, the feelings I had for him slowly drifted away, but one encounter with him recently changed everything. One encounter made me realize how the heart doesn't forget shit, and how my mind is going to have to work overtime to make sure I never forget my definition of resentment.

Excerpt

“Are you coming to the pep rally tonight?” he asks.

“Probably not.”

“Why?”

“School spirit isn’t really my thing. No offense, but…football isn’t either.”

He laughs, and I suddenly realize that the two of us have never talked about football during our sessions together. In fact, whenever I’ve brought it up, he’s changed the subject to something else.

“Well,” he says, letting my hand go. “You should come for me instead.”

“What? What do you mean?”

“I mean, since you’re not into school spirit or football, but you’re clearly into me, you can make an exception and come tonight.”

“You’re getting quite presumptuous lately.” I put on my best poker face. “Do I need to help you with that definition?”

“Not when I know the true word you’re looking for is cognizant.” He grins, stepping back. “I hope to see you tonight.”

“I’ll think about it.”

“I’m sure you always do.” He gives me a look so sexy that I almost melt into the floor.

Goddamn, Dean Collins…

Blurb

What happens when your plus one becomes “the one”?

Holly Haggerty and Roth Esterly are two besties with everything in common—they’re neighbors, career-driven, and commitment-phobes. Tired of always being set up on dates by well-meaning friends and family, they take matters into their own hands: they will be the other’s plus one—a little friendly arrangement between friends.

Easy…until a steamy night where they cross the line. But that’s okay, they’ll add an addendum—one that includes a little action between the sheets…on top of the sheets…and without the sheets. But there are rules. Dating and sex are exclusive until one of them decides to terminate the agreement. No slumber parties. And if either party becomes emotionally involved they will break things off with no hard feelings.

When unexpected news changes their plans and turns their fun arrangement into something more serious, Holly and Roth must come to terms with what’s more important—what they thought they wanted, or what they really need.

My Review

A great enjoyable short read.

This is the story of Holly and Roth. They are both neighbors and they begin to find themselves growing attracted to each other. They strike up a friends with benefits type relationship that when and if they start feel enough is enough they will end their deal and go back to being neighbors.

I really enjoyed this story. I liked both holly and Roth character and although the story was nothing to other similar books I have read it was a great read to pass a couple of hours. There are plenty of steamy scenes throughout the book.  Overall a great hot steamy read.

Release Blitz and Review- The Weight of the Rain by Mariah Dietz

TWOR REL BANNER
Title: The Weight Of Rain
Author: Mariah Dietz
Genre: New Adult
Release Date: October 27, 2015
add-to-goodreads-button31
Synopsis
One night changed my life—one that I barely remember. When I close my eyes, my mind paints a picture of his smile and shades the contours of his hands, the deep scar around his bicep. I'm an artist, yet my hands are unsteady. With his presence, he has unknowingly broken that something inside of me that makes me who I am. Being around him is like standing in a rainstorm. First the drops tickle my skin, and then they coat me, refusing to be ignored. Finally, they soak into me, reaching parts of me I don’t think anyone has ever touched. When dreams turn into reality, will the picture in my mind transfer to paper?

My Review

This was my first read by the author Mariah Dietz. From reading the synopsis this sounded like the kind of book I would enjoy.

The story is about Lo and King. They first meet at a party and they sleep together however the next day Lo can't really remember much including the guy she slept with. Lo is an art student and in her pictures she draws hands of King (unconsciously). However when Lo and King finally meet again he is Stand offish and tries to push Lo away. The story really explores the growth of their relationship and the emotions involved.

For me at times the story felt a little disjointed it seemed to jump from one scene to the next quickly. I have to say I loved Mercedes characters she seemed liked a very wise and beyond her years for a 10 year old. Lo's characters was good also I liked how she slowly opened up. King's character blow hot and cold for me for the first 70% but I really did like the last 25% of the story.

Overall a likable read wit lots of emotion and feelings.

“Why do you pretend that I don’t mean anything to you when clearly I do?” My charcoal presses hard against the paper as my neck snaps up. He’s fully dressed, his usual baseball hat still on, flipped backward, and wearing a flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows. Flannel is growing on me, but I won’t tell him that. His face shows no signs of humor or teasing. If anything, he looks almost pained. “Did you just get home?” “Why did you pretend you wanted to know me? Why not just call it what it was?” His eyes narrow as his chin drops. “Have you been drinking?” I know the answer before I ask the question. I can smell it. “I liked you, Lo.” My heart races with too many possibilities and hopes, and not enough validation. “You spend so much time trying to convince yourself that what happened that night wasn’t real.” “I was drunk.” “You weren’t drunk. I wouldn’t have slept with you if you were drunk! I don’t do shit like that. It’s disgusting!” “I don’t remember large parts of that night.” “You remember more of that night than you’re willing to admit.” His eyes land on my drawing where he studies the image for several long seconds. I should have covered it as soon as I realized he was here, but it was too late from the beginning. It’s of him—of course it’s of him. And to make matters worse, he’s shirtless. The scars he mentioned me knowing about are there, as well as the few tattoos most of the world is deprived of seeing. “Obviously you remember.” His words make my cheeks burn with embarrassment. He’s right, but hearing that he’s aware of this fact is both strangely relieving and move-to-Australia-tomorrow worthy. “You left an impression,” I admit before moving my attention so I don’t have to see his reaction. “Lo, I haven’t been able to forget that night either. I think about it all. The. Damn. Time.” His words are punctuated, driving his message much further than just my thoughts. “I spent weeks trying to figure out who you were.” I feel slightly guilty that his admission makes me so happy. For so long I have thought he avoided me, lied about his name and identity so that I wouldn’t find out who he truly was. “Why did we wait so long to be honest with each other?” His breath is a snicker. “We’re only admitting a fraction of anything.” His words run through my head, lacing into several variations of what he actually means, still, I nod. “This conversation needs to happen. We need to figure shit out because I’m tired of trying to avoid you, and I’m really tired of you ignoring me.” “Aren’t we kind of doing that now?” He shakes his head as he closes the distance between us, then grips the table with his left hand and bends so his face is level with mine. “If I stay in here any longer I’m going to do something that would probably make me deserve getting slapped, so I am going to say this and then leave.” He pauses. I can smell the scent of beer and peppermint on his breath, along with the warmth of his skin as his shoulders roll forward. His eyes are wide and bright, demanding me to pay close attention to his words. “I know you’re tough. I know you can draw better than any damn person I’ve ever met in my life and most likely ever will. I know you love Mercedes and would never risk changing that relationship. But we like each other, and I don’t know what in the hell that means exactly, but I know I want to find out. The question you need to ask yourself is, do you?” His throat moves, swallowing words we both know he’s fighting with. Ones that would make things both better and worse. He reaches forward, his chest grazing my shoulder. I hate that I don’t want to move. That I want to absorb the feel of his warmth and convince him to admit truths we both know and bury on a daily basis in a sea of general politeness and attempts to avoid one another. But the truths are laid open with the innuendos, silent stares, and capitalized when we go out of the way to cross the other’s path. He has become an exhausting and thrilling addiction that I don’t know how to consider stopping or even changing at this point. A long breath runs through my nose as his dark eyes meet mine, exposing he’s fighting his own battle: silently pleading with me to bring things up by making a cutting remark or joke about our night. I know he wants it because it’s the only way we can both talk about it and relive it. It’s apparent by the way his jaw locks and his eyes waver from mine that he also doesn’t want me to respond. He’s waiting for me to consider his words and come back. His arm flexes as he holds the table even tighter. Then he stands and stalks out of the room, leaving my heart racing. Holy shit.

B lue Pheonix Playlist post

Blue Phoenix Playlist Post #1
(Dylan and Sky)

Rock stars, bacon sandwiches, secret holidays, smart girls, a Disney princess and a scarlet haired rock chick. Isn't it time you met the Blue Phoenix boys?

The Amazon bestselling Blue Phoenix rock romance series is about a UK rock band. There are six books in the series, three interconnected feature lead singer Dylan and Sky, and three standalones feature the other band members.

Check out the BIG SALE on the series. All books are available on Kindle Unlimited.

This post is the playlist for Dylan and Sky’s books:
Summer Sky and the companion novella, Summer Star
Falling Sky.

Summer Sky

Sky changed her life for a man once, and she has no intention of doing it again - even if he is a six-foot, tattooed rock god who makes a mean bacon sandwich.

Sky Davis is fed up of boyfriend Grant taking her for granted, and when she comes home to find him wearing a girl, Sky suspects the relationship is over. She takes an unscheduled vacation and leaves the life (and guy) she hates behind.

Rock star Dylan Morgan is struggling with fame and infamy, sick of his life being controlled by other people. Dylan cuts his hair and walks away from his role as lead singer of Blue Phoenix, leaving behind chaos and speculation.

Outside the English seaside town of Broadbeach, their cars and worlds collide.

Sky decides Dylan is an arrogant guy with too many tattoos, and Dylan is amused by the smart-mouthed girl with no idea who he is. Dylan and Sky soon discover they've travelled to Broadbeach for the same reason - to escape from reality and head back to a place with happy childhood memories. Losing themselves in a world where they know nothing about each other, Sky and Dylan begin a holiday romance that soon heats up their rainy English summer.

Falling Sky

Sky’s world turned upside down when she met rock star Dylan Morgan, and exploded when she discovered his hidden past.

Four months after Sky learns Dylan’s devastating secret, she’s trying to piece her life back together. Without an explanation from Dylan, Sky has no choice but to try and forget him.

Dragged back into the life he ran from, Dylan continues to spiral downwards as he copes with his fame the only way he knows how. Shattered by the revelation Sky knows his darker past, he forces himself to return to England and explain.

Sky and Dylan reconnect, attempting to build on the shaky foundations of their summer. But the outside world continues to conspire against them.

Taking place in the epicentre of the Blue Phoenix world, Sky and Dylan’s story continues amongst the chaos surrounding the band and its members.

PLAYLIST

1. A reader told me she though this song was perfect for Dylan and Sky and I’d never even considered it until I listened. She was right!
For Dylan, being with Sky in the place from his past reminds him of a childhood where life was easier. And of course the song mentions the bright Sky!

“When I look into Sky’s eyes, I see myself reflected back. Something in them holds a lost part of me I can only find by being with her.” Dylan in Summer Star

Sweet Child O’ Mine – Guns n’ Roses

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w7OgIMMRc4

2. Dylan is suffocated by his fame and he runs from the pressure of his life. Not only does being away and anonymous allow him to breathe, but being with Sky breathes a new life into him. But reality catches up and he’s forced back into his old world.

“I wanted to live in the illusion for longer. You let me breathe, Sky. You connected me to something long gone, and now I’m lost again.” Dylan in Summer Sky

Give Me Room to Breathe - You Me At Six

3. Sky doesn’t know who Dylan is and each time she sees him in a band t-shirt, she asks him if it’s his band. One of Dylan’s favourite bands is White Stripes and he wears a tee in Summer Sky. The song is also perfect for Dylan’s state of mind and situation when Sky discovers who he is.

“Do you know how f*cking hard it is to be owned by everyone around you? What that does to a person?” Dylan  - Summer Sky

Seven Nation Army – White Stripes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J2QdDbelmY

4. When Sky discovers who Dylan is, it takes her time to accept she can be part of his world but she worries whether their relationship can survive public scrutiny and how this will affect her. This continues in Falling Sky as they attempt to navigate a lot of craziness thrown at the by his and the band’s  lifestyle.

"The one thing I can't let go of is the sneaking fear our colliding worlds will explode, taking me with them." ~ Sky in Summer Sky

Never Tear Us Apart - INXS

5. This beautiful song suits their relationship too. There’s a scene towards the end of Falling Sky when Dylan is alone in a hotel room and they need each other and the song made me think of this.

With Dylan, love becomes a different concept. Not hearts and flowers, or lust and need, but the unexplained, frightening place two people go and are lost together ~ Sky in Falling Sky
